However, the truth came out finally when welfare officers rescued the boy and took him to the hospital.

The son had so many injuries that doctors who examined him were taken aback as there was barely a spot on his body that had no scars.

It was learnt that the mother had a "complicated life" and was now divorced from the boy's father who had never helped raise the boy.

Parents who abuse their children are in need of help. One in every three parents who grow up in a physically abusive environment tends to be abusive towards their children.

Some parents argue that they hit their children because they are trying to teach their children well if they are honest, they will admit that they are venting their anger.Parent often choose physical punishment over the non-physical method because it is faster and easier.

Parents hit their children when they were frustrated with them did not know effective parenting method. When time comes to say goodnight, her nightmare begins.....

She will starts to cry and cry non-stop for hours until 3 to 4 am every night for myself and my hubby. It was our first time caring for babies and we really do not know what is wrong with her crying...... no matter how we console her, rock her, sing to her, still no difference; her crying is getting louder and stronger. The only thought we have at that moment was might be her stomach in pain and thus we just rub "yu yee oil" (Chinese traditional oil is used for relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints, symptoms of stomach ache and cold) on her stomach.... its helps but after a while the crying comes back.

After few nights of crying which we can't resist to see our precious baby in that condition every night, we decided to bring her to a pediatrician. The pediatrician confirmed that she is having colic which normally srikes baby at 2 months old. Colic drops have to be taken everyday and it really helps and reduces her crying. In addition, rubbing of "yu yee oil" on her stomach also relieves her stomach wind.

As an old Chinese saying: "Unfinished milk by baby should not be kept too long and re-warm for the baby to consume again. This may cause wind in the stomach."

We are also recommeded from the elders that consuming gripe water everyday after bath also can relief colic. We do try it and it really works. Slowly day by day until when Jynn is 4 months old, finally she has her good night sleep without anymore pain on her stomach which she has to suffer and go through for 2 months. Is indeed a great moment for myself, my hubby and also her twin sister, Lynn, who is always just keep quiet listening to her sister's crying every night without a moan which she knows that she can't do anything to help and console her younger sister.

Father Care

30th June, 2008 was my last day working as a Finance Manager in a big international company.
